Schlitz Malt Liquor, aka The Bull.
Colt 45 Malt Liquor. (THo0ugh was he in character?)
Dunno; that one was before I was born.
I'm somewhat chagrined that I know how "malt liquor" was advertised. :-0
Don't know what you mean by "ration brew" but many brands of beer were canned in "olive drab" painted cans during World War 2 for the military- some I've seen pictures of or heard about include: Ballantine, Berghoff, Blatz, Breidt's, Fort Pitt, Hull, Schmidt, Rainier, Schaefer, Carling Black Label & Red Cap Ale, Hamm's, etc.
According to this site, 35 different brewers canned beer for the military.
Bally's and Fort Pitt:
Here's a Blatz-
And a Pfeiffer's
Schlitz Malt Liquor.
I want to say that that was Schlitz Malt Liquor too, but that wouldn't make sense. It must have been a competing brand.
Funny, I wonder when malt liquor advertising dropped off TV. I remember it used to be a regular feature when watching football, along with commercials for Dutch Master cigars and EF Hutton.
That's a bit before my time. A bit before my dad's time, too.

Nope, it was Colt .45
Then read this fascinating article out of Saint Louis and learn -
Correct!
Correct, and Billy Dee Williams did do one spot in character late in the advertising campaign (although it was basically BDW on a space movie set, dressed up in Llando threads, hawking Colt 45 - there was no mention of "Star Wars" or "Llando" in the commercial - don't want to make George mad, you know!).
It's a trick question - it was actually many brewers, because there was a big demand from the G. I.'s for those olive-drab cans simply marked "BEER".
Btw, does anybody in the U.K. know who the Tommie's suppliers were, and who the official "grog" supplier to the Royal Navy was?
Don't be - check out
