Anchor Steam-Anchor Porter

Anchor Steam-Anchor Porter is the very first dark beer I ever tried. I felt so cool hanging out with the Natural Light crowd sippin' on that rich dark brew :)

Only complaint-it leaves a very sweet taste on the tongue long after the sip. Otherwise it was pretty delicious. I had two with brunch. My family complained that it was "wickedly bitter," and even left bottles half full sitting in various 'hiding' places throughout the house! I didn't find that to be the case. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

For future reference: only one beer is Anchor Steam. The rest of their line are Anchor Porter, Liberty Ale, etc. The brand name is "Anchor", and only one of their beers is a steam beer. True, it's their flagship beer, but if you want to avoid looking like a doofus in front of beer snobby types (not that any of those are around here!), be careful of your naming practice.

Word to the wise and all. Otherwise, someone like Don Scheidt will do the Newbie Bash on your head.

Oh! LOL! I meant to say Anchor Steam *&*Anchor Porter...I didn't get to try the Steam cuz it was snatched up pretty quick. Maybe next time...

Try taking large mouthfuls of the porter instead of the sips. A larger drink will cover more of the tongue and allow you to truly "taste" the beer.
