I've had these before, but I'm not proud of it. :-)
Add to your list Brown Derby, Schmidts, Schlitz, Schaefer, Iron City and Coors back in college days when quantity and price were more important than quality.
It's amazing what advertising can do for an otherwise humdrum beer. Just look at how the ordinary Stella Atrois has taken off in the USA. The Wall Street Journal did a fascinating piece on the re-branding of Stella about 3 years ago. Their advertising campaign is a masterpiece of high-brow advertising that took what is really the Belgian version of Coors and turned it into something sophisticated. I can think of only one other brewer that successfully created an image of refinement for their beer. Miller with "Miller High Life - the Chapmpagne of Bottled Beer" was a long running and very successful pitch from several decades ago.
