Anyone filter their beer?

Ok, I maybe want to try to filter my beer. I know it is not common to do so in the Homebrew styles. However, I still would like to try it simply to say I could do it.

I have considered several methods of filtration to include running the chilled wort through Brita filters before adding yeast.

Looking for anyone with good experiences in filtering. thanks!

Brita filters aren't designed for anything as heavy as homebrew. You'll clog it up before you get half a gallon through it. In fact, somewhere on the filter box it says you shouldn't filiter more than two or three quarts of water through it a day.

First, alt.beer is mainly for the discussion of the finished product. The rec.crafts.brewing group has lots of knowledgeable guys and would be the appropriate forum for this type of question. Having said that, I'll say sure you can filter beer, just the same as you can filter wine. Filtering with a Brita or any other type of filter before adding yeast is useless. Much of the stuff you presumably want to filter out is produced by fermentation. If you filter after fermentation then you will have to artificially carbonate simply because filtering will remove the yeast necessary for bottle conditioning. And, bottle conditioning produces more sediment in the bottles so, you're back to square one.
