Why would it become "necessary?" Extra federal labeling regs?
Incremental addition. Another possibility is to use a bigger "wraparound" label. Depends on the bottle-labeling equipment.

It won't have a non-zero impact. Some micros use silk-screening for their labeling. But if I look at a lot of the bottled craft brews I can get in my area, I see wider labels or back labels already. Neck labels, too.
Or maybe they can take a cue from Oskar Blues and go for a micro- canning line.
