Brewers in St. Louis compete to create the most "extreme" beer (Published April 13, 2008) ST. LOUIS

Brewers are competing to create "extreme" beers, including brews that contain 10 percent alcohol by volume.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that brewers are pushing the envelope as the range of brewing creativity and boldness keeps expanding.

Extreme beers included so-called "barley wine" containing 10 percent alcohol by volume, or ales with lemongrass and ginger flavoring.

Even the nation's biggest brewer is getting in on the trend. Anheuser-Busch Companies just released a blueberry flavored beer called Wild Blue.

Kinda goes against the AB radio spot where they gently mock other breweries for making beers that include other flavors, while announcing that Budweiser is the perfect beer, don't it?
