Camo silver ice 24 oz 9% for $0.99 Anyone ever try this?

I saw a camo ice 9% beer in the grocery the other day. I am afraid to try it. So it sits in the fridge still. Anyone ever try this beer? I guess the price say's it all. Interestingly the alcohol content in Arkansas is on

5% by weight. Must be some kind of law against high gravity beers. This probably will not taste like a double bock even though the alcohol content is similar.

I think expecting it to not taste like a dopplebock is probably a good call.

I haven't tried that beer yet, but do intend at some point to have a high-grav lager/malt liquor tasting. I'll have to make sure that one gets included.

No it certainly will NOT taste like a double bock!

in the interest of science, I have sampled the Camo High Gravity Lager, Ale, and Silver Ice - and they are all pretty bad, you should be afraid. The Ale was like rocket fuel. The Silver Ice was also fuselly but less so, but it will still make you die.

The only one's I ever cared for (...in the pre-micro days, of course, when pickin' were slim) were Haffenreffer Private Stock Malt Liquor, when it was coming out of Falstaff/General breweries and tasted like it had a real family relationship to Ballantine XXX Ale, Croft Ale (rip), Pickwick Ale (rip), etc. (Used to come in those 16. oz. stubby green bottles that BA used in certain markets.) Amazingly, the last time I bought a six (for nostalgia's sake, honest) even it seemed "dumbed down", even worse than it's sister brew, Ballantine XXX Ale. "Amazingly" because you'd think it would be hard to dumb down a malt liquor any further. Now a Pabst/Miller product, of course, and seems to be sold as a discount ML, at least when one sees it in New Jersey (a case was going for about $9 a year or so ago, last I saw it).

The other interesting malt liquor (or was it? I forget exactly what it was called) was Utica Club's (Matt's) Maximus Super. I haven't seen that one in years, but it certainly was potent stuff back in the late

70's when I had a beer license in NY state, along the Canadian border. Winters were long and cold and Maximus Super was a welcome companion (along with Matt's and Genesee 12 Horse Ale, both in deposit 12 oz. bottles).

I used to drink those in college. Camo is has much more kick! I drank at least a 1/2 gallon of water after 24oz. You might call me a prepared lightweight! My college nephews swear by it. My stomach is not that strong!
