Corsendonk Christmas Ale

Saw this one on the shelf at my local package. Anyone tried it?

Yes. I like all the Corsendonk beers. They're pleasant, if not mindblowingly magnificent.

They're all contract brews - Corsendonk is nice stuff, but it's a "virtual" brewery. Can't remember who makes them for real - Verhaege? Strubbe? Vichte? Hmmm. It's about time for a beer.

Is this a bad thing?

Well, I just tried it. It's very good, but for half the price the Ommegang Belgian is better to me.

In itself, absolutely not. What is a bad thing, is not coming clean about it, not mentioning the real place where the thing has been manufactured, or even worse, tring to give unwary customers they ARE a brewery indeed. The contract brewing in itself says nothing about the quality of the beers, nothing whatsoever. The lying about the origins, in some cases to be able to sell the product more expensively is despicable. Joris
