Butte Creek Organic IPA (7.1%) of Chico, CA: better than I expected,
with a curious porter-y overtone.

Pyramid Thunderhead IPA (don't recall the alc. #) of Berkeley, CA:
understated, with nice lace and clove-like notes. I found this bottled,
but what the hell am I doing here? I live in the same city this beer is
brewed and just havent taken the time to go down there and drink it

Neither one of these IPAs was outstanding to my nervous system and
desires, but OTOH it's good to be alive and rich enough I can sample
different beers and then have the time to make notes on them for who
knows who.

I enjoy reading the posts here where the beer critics take themselves
and their beers quite seriously. (I'm not being a wiseass here; I
really do enjoy this stuff.)

It's interesting that you found it "porter-y."  I thought it looked and
tasted more like an amber ale, or even a brown ale, than an IPA.  I was
disappointed by it.
