[Fwd: Peculier Laurie the Real Ale Kitten]

(bgtnsc04-news.ops.worldnet.att.net)

Recently my wife and I found 3 abandonned kittens and we gave them a home (Moe, Laurie & Curly, 1 male/2 female). Laurie is the subject kitten. One night shortly after we found them I was spending some time with them drinking a glass of port. Laurie started to drink it. Thinking this was not good for a 4 pound kitten I stopped her immediately. I put the port in front of the other two kittens but they (as all the previous cats we have had over the years) turned their nose up on it.

This past week I was drinking a pint of my bottled conditioned Old Peculiar facsimle (made at a brew on premise business here in New Jersey from a recipe in the Roger Protz book "Brew Your Own British Real Ale at Home"). I left my pint alone for a second to do something and the next thing I knew Laurie was lapping it up at a frantic pace. Still being quite small I didn't think this was good for an "underage" kitten so I stopped her. Again I put the pint under the noses of her 2 siblings but they turned their noses up on it and walked away.

Does anyone else know of a cat that likes beer and wine?

I am afraid to fall asleep with a half consumed pint for the fear of finding a drunk or even worse dead 6 pound kitten.

I have 2 other beers I have made (facsimles of Gales Festival Mild and HSB). I will have to see if Laurie will like these as well. I hope if I put Bud in front of her she will show some style and turn her nose up on that sh*t.
