Higher Ohio Beer limits Hit Cin. city Brewers

Thanks to the passage of House Bill 37, the cap on the amount of alcohol in beer will be lifted in Ohio, which will help local breweries better compete with those in neighboring states.

“We are always pushing that 10- to 12-percent limit and this is kind of just opening the playbook for us and going to allow us to experiment and do a lot more fun things,” said Jason Brewer, who takes care of distribution for Listermann Brewery.

“It's going to be stronger in both alcohol and body. It's going to be a big-bodied beer and ahh, just really thick and viscous and delicious.”

Listermann’s is already brewing a 13- to 16-percent alcohol content beer called Huge Beer 37, after House Bill 37. The beer will be ready

90 days after the governor signs the bill into law. The exact alcohol content of the beer will be known once the beer has finished brewing.
