Hoegaarden

I liked the Celis Celis (for lack of a better term). It had a nice body, good orange/coriander/tart balance, and was altogether livelier. Any Hoegaarden I got during that period tasted old and tired to me in comparison (though I still enjoyed it). I tried the Michigan Celis a few months ago, and while it wasn't bad it just wasn't the same. The balance was different, being thinner, more coriander-y, and less tart.

I've only had their dubbel. I quite liked it.

I tried Hoegaarden witbier for the first time in years last night. Now, my standards my have lowered a bit by the lame New Zealand excuses for witbier I've had recently. But I *loved* the Hoegaarden wit; I had totally forgotten what a great beer it is. I should have taken some tasting notes, but after a few sips I said, "Fuck it, I'm going to immerse myself in this beer."

I also tried Hoegaarden's strong, dark Verboden Vrucht for the first time recently. Another great beer.
