How much beer is in a 12 ounce glass?

I have 12 ounce glasses that I fill up with Bud draft from a keg. Because of foam the glasses usually do not hold 12 ounces but a lesser number. In the bar business is there a standard amount or % for the underage?

this may seem like common sense but... why not divide the glass up into 12 cross-sections and determine from there what the oz per glass is, after foam. Or you can use a measuring cup that shows oz as one of the items to be measured. Filll it up wth say 10oz of water.. pour it into the 12 oz glass and see if it measures to where the beer you pour normally fills to.

BTW, since Bud is pretty crappy and if you know how to pour, you can minimize the foam to almost none.

In what country? In the US, there are no laws (AFAIK; as in all else it can vary by state, county, municipality...) governing volume of beer sold, nor even what size glass is used (e.g., there are some 14-oz shaker glasses sold as "pints"). In England, I understand, weights and measures are very important, especially when it comes to beer. As it should be.

I'm not sure I understand your question. If a person is "underage" they shouldn't be in a bar. As for glasses, what kind do you have? I have several "pint" glasses, the type most commonly found in most US bars and taverns. They all measure 14ozs US.

Underage, not under age. Underage is the amount something is less than expected.

Well, underage is still below a legal age, but I was not aware of the other meaning. Thank you.

But this way, bar owners can realize a bigger profit by selling beer in 14-ounce pours. That's an extra 14-ounce glass sold per seven glasses, which is like 18 extra glasses sold.

Of course, there's all that extra glassware to wash per unit keg, which might offset it.

Bite me. And I mean that in the nicest possible way, of course. Sophie.
