I'm back from Ft. Collins Co...

and...I picked up a bunch of beer, some repeats but many new to me. Hehe.

Also, at the age of 52 and 4 days, I've finally tried a cask conditioned ale, Punjabi Pale ale, brewed at Coopersmith in Ft. Collins. I had 2 pints and I gotta say, if time would have permitted, I would have had more.

*Now* I can see what all the hoopla is about!!!

Always nice to step outside the local box (though it sounds like your local box ain't as strait as it was when you started posting, eh?).

How about it? That real ale's some stuff!

You can say that again and...again and again. If this ng was school, I'd be pulling a 4.0 for sure.

I just couldn't *believe* how fresh and tasty the stuff is. I can say, without a doubt, that I've NEVER had a better tasting draught product ever. (Hehe...watchin the barmaid/tender pull that pint is also a joy..)

PS: I'll list the beers I "scored" once I get a chance to kick back and relax.

Indeed. While I'd certainly not volunteer to limit myself to one beer or class of beer if I could help it, I could easily be very happy drinking nothing but fresh cask ale for the rest of my life. If you get the chance, get yourself to the Great British Beer Festival in London, where there are hundreds (perhaps thousands) of outstanding cask-conditioned ales. And then go running around the city and the countryside in search of other great cask beers.

There's also the Real Ale Festival in Chicago every year. A few more beers there that aren't necessarily well-suited to cask presentation (I've found that rare is the highly hopped, but undermalted beer that holds up well to casking), but an outstanding selection and the most you'll find in one place aside from the GBBF.

LOL! That's exactly what I'd be doing. "The kid in the candy shop" has nothing on us....

The Punjabi is actually an IPA and pretty highly hopped so I'm guessing that this one falls into the "rare" category. Surely we must have some folks here, in this very ng, who have visited Coopersmiths and can chime in with their opinions.

Btw, I also noticed +30 single malt scotches on the shelves...WOW!
