JW Lees Harvest Ale 1997

I cracked open one of my 3 samples from 1997. Wow..this is some very nice sipping stuff.(11.5% abv) It says best before end of Nov. 2002 but....I can't really taste any faults in this 6 yr. 4 month old old ale.

My other 2 bottles are gonna sit for a while longer. (on to the 1998 & 2000)

Best regards, Bill

Screw the "best before" dates. IIRC, the EU forces them to be no more than 5 years from the date of production. Last year I had a Lees from '86 that blew my freaking mind. I've got a couple of '88s sitting in the closet for some special day. It's criminal to drink that stuff young.

Hi Nick,

that is not true. I have some beers in my cellar that are at least two years old and have a best-before-date 2008 and I had a Gueuze that had a best-before-date 2023!

Reagards and Prost,

I found the 1998 & 2000 samples pretty close(??)...but quite far behind in complexity compared to the 1997.
