Does Lew Bryson still post here?

I like what he wrote about one of my favorite beers: "The Ipswich oatmeal stout fascinates me in its huge, ponderously delicate balance, strongly bitter yet not overwhelmingly so, like a hippo blithely walking a tightrope."

He used to post here, but he got so enormously fat from drinking beer, and his head got so bloated from all the praise for his books, that he could no longer fit into the little newsreaders.

In fact, it's possible that he simply exploded and his publisher now has Bob Klein ghost-writing his articles. I doubt he's going to show up at the Grey Lodge; they'll have to use a tow truck to get him there.

This is a bald-faced lie. It's a well-known and documented fact that, at Lew's current capacity of corpulence, they'll need *two* tow trucks.

Oh, Guess

Too many dorks in Usenet these days -- with no sense of humor and really thin skins. Come to think of it, though, it's always been that way!

Welcome back, Sensei of Suds.

Yes, we do have different definitions. For me, hop-juice simply means hop is over-emphasized above all else. Bitterness is not necessary.

Thought as much. Half the damned problems on the group derive from imprecision in language.

Fix yours.

I fixed it by calling it a feature of the newsgroup, rather than a problem.

And here I had this image of you as a Linux kind of guy. Who knew you were a closet Gatesian?

I'm a software guy. We're all the same (and don't let Steve Jobs try to tell you different.)
