Light Beer that's Not Very Light Posted By: John Matarese

Did you pop open a cold beer this 4th of July? If so, there's a good chance it was a light beer....the top selling category in the good old USA. But a new report says some light beer is not very light at all. Our partners at Consumer Reports magazine say there are no standards defining a light beer.

Consumer Reports says a regular Budweiser has 145 calories.

A Becks Premier Light has just 64 calories, and a Michelob Ultra 95 calories.

But Bud Light contains 110 calories, while Sam Adams Light has 119 calories... Almost the same as a regular beer.

Plus the magazine says light beer has almost as much alcohol as regular beer.

Bottom line: Don't think you're slimming down drinking a lot of light.

I'm hoping that one day there will be a new definition of "regular beer".

Calories are calories. It's upt to the individual to know what they're consuming. Personally, I'd rather have regular beer and work out. I don't lose weight by hoping for the "light beer effect". Which I personally find extrermely retarded.
