From Limburg Brewing Co., Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. I let this one(bottle) cool down in the fridge and it's turned out to be a winner, in my book. Very zesty and smooth at the same time, this *could* be the best beer to come out of NZ since I've been a beer drinker. Try it....I think you'll like it.
It's good to hear the Limburg Wit has made it over there. Is this thanks to Michael Jackson's Beer of the Month club? The story was that Chris O'Leary (brewer) had to ramp up production drastically to fill the order... although that was a year ago.. is he exporting regularly now?
For the record, NZ beer definitely no longer starts and ends with the rightly despised Steinlager and DB. Chris O'Leary's Limburg brewery is doing really well. The Weizenbock and Hopsmacker (pale ale) are superb. If anything from Emerson's Brewery makes it to the US, snap it up. Also some memorable beers from Harrington's, Galbraith's, the Mussell Inn, the Lighthouse... Even the old evil duopoly are producing the occasional good beer (Speight's Pilsener, some Monteiths).
I don't know about MJ's beer of the month club but Liquid Solutions, out of Oregon, began carrying the Limburg Wit . I subscribe to Matt's newsletter so....when I received the onelisting LW, I thought I'd give it a try. I only bought
1 bottle of it; caution did not pay off this time. :^)
