Microbrews don't have it...

Only imported beers have the character, complexity, and ambiance that a real beer should. Microbrews are just plain plain. You can make your own just as good at home.

You've just been helped!

Yeah. Move to Krakayirassistan and import some micros. They'll taste much better that way.

I was at my favorite BP, Triumph Brewery in Princeton NJ and they had what they called Irish Dry Stout on tap. It was great but for some reason they would not sell in in one of the glass jugs that they use. (They don't distribute). Something to do with it losing it's taste if it is poured, jugged, and then drunk.

The glass jugs are called growlers (no big deal, just educating), and brewpubs generally will not put nitro-tap beers like Triumph's Irish stout or cask-conditioned beers in a growler. Beer in growlers has a limited lifetime to begin with, and these two types have an even shorter life. Has to do with the carbonation of the beer and how the growler is filled; these two kinds of beer would go flat REAL fast in a growler.

That was hardly presumptuous. When I see presumptuous I will sound the alarm.

I've been accused on occasion of being tactless, but I thought your comment was completely out of line. Does that help you interpret Lew's comment any better?

Whoa. Cool down, guys. I was just going back to the earlier thread in which some noob called Phil a presumptuous asshole. Just fooling about. I'm a big boy, I can take some rough shit. Usually do, when Mul121 or his internal head-voice Grifty121 come around.

In short, no big.

Thanks!. I think she said something to that effect, about the carbonation et.al., but I was not following her very well. They also had a rauth beer? (German for "smoke") which was OK to sip but I think it would have gotten to me really fast. The bartender said it reminded her of a Slim Jim. "Growlers!" I wonder if next time I'm there and ask for a growler what they will do.
