My bad

I reached for one of my Alaskan Smoked Porters...popped open the bottle...poured it in my glass... took a sip...yep. My bad. I accidentally opened my last bottle of 2002. Thought it was the 2003. :^(

Do you know if Alaskan Smoked Porter is available in Colorado? I've never had it and only just moved here from Dallas (where no Alaskan offerings are available). I would love to try it, especially if it's anything akin to Stone Smoked Porter, which I love.

I don't think it reaches Colorado, though I may be wrong. If you can't find it, I'd be willing to send you a bottle since you're now a new "neighbor" of mine.

Best regards, Bill

PS: I gotta get some of the Stone SP and compare them.

Dude, that s*cks. Why do bad things happen to good people? Here's a nice guy, who finds good beer for his buddy, just gives me a 6 pack of John Courage (I love you man!) and says buy me lunch, even though I already owe him lunch! And then offers to send an unknown poster a brew? Who has a

2002 Alaskan Smoked Porter they will sell me for my buddy Bill? Any reasonable price paid!

Oh, the horror! I know what you're going through. I once had a Wiibroe Imperial Stout (Danish beer) that I had saved since 1996. It won the silver medal in the 1996 World Beer Championship Imperial Stout category, and was generally thought by local beerlovers to be the best beer of the type in Denmark. The brewery closed in 1998, but their range of beers was moved to the Carlsberg brewery (Wiibroe was owned by Carlsberg). Anyway, then, in 2002, Carlsberg decided to discontinue the beer and everybody wanted to get their hands on some of the lasts brews. Problem was that the beer was only distributed in a very small area, but fortunately it was where I grew up, so when visiting my parents, I set out to look for some remaining brews. Although it had been a couple of months since it was discontinued, I managed to find a small grocer who had quite a few left. I don't have a car however, and I had to go home by train, so I only bought six, which was what I figured I was able to carry with all the other stuff I was bringing. But I was content. I returned home, and had to find a place to stock the beers, but I have a small apartment, so I just put the beers in the cupboard where I kept the 1996-one... Well, I think you can guess what happened. Bugger!
