No Longer a Guinness Virgin...

Well, after reading about it 1,000 times and hearing a "gazillion" conversations on it, I finally tried Guinness Draught Saturday night...See, I received my Scholarship check last week and finally decided that it might be OK to splurge and spend a *ridiculous* 10$ on a 4 PACK!! It was very smooth and delicious (I didn't share BTW), but I won't be buying it again until I graduate from University.

Just thought I'd share...

night...See,

Wow..ten bucks a 4 pack? In my town, it sells for 6.99 and that's too much to pay, imho.

LMAO!! Feel free to pity me, as I suffer the minorest of inconveniences every single day--from beer to organic foods...

What, you mean in a major metropolitan market like Huntsville, there isn't the equivalent of a Whole Foods or similar greener-crunchy market? Whole Foods stores usually have a decent beer selection, too.

Well, sure, and to be fair, you're closer to decent beer than someone in Alabama, and at least Wyoming doesn't have those absurd laws limiting alcohol content. The South is chockablock with ridiculous alcohol regulations and dry counties, and not just Alabama; it isn't much better in George or the Carolinas.

Still, I'd rather not wait for my beers to show up in the mail. Delivery to one's front porch is nice, but I like having great neighborhood pubs and restaurants with good beer on tap. However, I'm fully aware that it is in the Great American Tradition to buy packaged beer to drink at home.

First LOL on calling 'Huntsvegas' "a major metropolitan market." There are two health food stores, count 'em, 1, 2. One of them is really disgusting and is run by 3 smokers, who by the way, are always smoking like three cigs at a time. Their selection consists of products that are god knows how old, and really the stench is hard to overcome. The second one is pretty good, but they are open like 2 days a week at weird hours and they would absolutely not sell beer because here Al-Key-Hall is from the devil!! We just recently got Sunday sales and all the conv. stores carry is Anheiser Busch products. Maybe on the Arsenal the selection is better, but only if you have a military ID and enjoy full cavity searches (J/K)! ^_^

I heard...is this true? They just passed a law recently that finally allows DRAFT beer sales in Montgomery? Unreal. No draft beer.

Yup! Hard to believe the extent of the influence of the church on the gov't here, but it is pretty much like living in Salem during the witch hunts. No gambling, video or otherwise, and the poor strippers can't even take their tops off...swimsuits only. Let's see what else, boys who wear earrings get expelled from school, no trench coats....it goes on and on. But it is beautiful here despite the choking christian laws...

Don't get me wrong, I also love good beer on tap. Just today I had a couple of pints of New Belgium Blue Paddle Pils with a Reuben sandwich at my local. They do a bit of rotating of the taps. Sometimes, I can enjoy a nice Mirror Pond ale, or a Zonker stout...

Don't kid yourself. If you've got dry counties next to wet counties, you can bet your ass the liquor stores and taverns in the wet counties are paying for all the campaign costs for the church whenever the these laws come up for a vote. So it was in Tennessee.
