Platte River Beer Fest..

..in Casper Wyoming.

I attended said event and the breweries involved:

Snake River Grand Teton Boulevard C.B. &Potts New Belgium

The on taps were...not my favourites. Damn. Good intentions gone astray. :^( Still...the weather was fabulous and the folks pouring the beers were most amiable.

Best regards, Bill PS: I asked the CB & Potts rep if they can bring a "branch" of theirs to Casper. He said."It is in the works"(Me paraphrasing here)

You know me too well, Lew.

The 2 brews they brought to Casper....a Hefeweizen(very average) and an Amber(God..will I *ever* find an Amber that I really like?) I can easily breathe whilst waiting for. But....for this town, new automaticlly equates to better. So..if they *do* come into town, I'll give them all the support they deserve.

Btw, I saw some sort of Rogue Santas Private Reserve "package" and asked if it was for sale. The dude said "no". I asked him...when is Rogue gonna make their presense known in a bigger way in Casper. Cuz I'm a really big fan of Rogue. He said the Santa PR would be in town, for sale, in about a month. Now that, I'm holding my breat for. lol.

Best regards, Bill

More details:

This was from the Lander branch of Snake River.(Jackson Wy) They had their Atlantic City Golden ale and a stout whose name escapes me(Neither on mentioned on their website) The Atlantic City was one of the pump handles at the Wonder Bar once..not anything exciting about it. The stout was very grainy tasting. Not even close in quality compared to the Zonker Stout.

They had their newish Workhorse Wheat(Pretty good) and their Bitch Creek ESB. The BC was the best tasting of the beers that were offered, imho.

They had the Wheat on tap(good stuff) and their Pale ale in bottles. Yeah..right...I'm going to a mini beer fest and buy a bottle of something that is available locally only in bottles. Ya catch my drift?

A very average Amber and Hefeweizen. Still, I hope they do make it into town. Btw, The Wonder Bar is still looking for a brewmaster.

Fat Tire and some Winter ale I never heard of...just checked. It's not mentioned on their website. Anyways, it didn't taste very special to me but then, it was the last brew I tasted at the event. My palate could have been shot by then. lol

Yeah, there you go! Sounds like things are getting better for you after all. I gotta tell ya, there are LOTS of places in PA that don't have as good a beer selection (and nearby options) as you. I think. Well... maybe!

lol. Or maybe not. But I agree, the scene in Casper is getting more hopeful each and every day. Re the beerfest...there were a ton of people there enjoying the microbrews. It warmked my heart for a while. Until I thought to myself...why am I seeing so many beers in the liquor stores going past their use by dates? Where are these people when you really need them ie to rotate the stock so we *always* have fresh stock??? Oy vey.

Best regards, Bill

Sippin on a McEwan's Scotch Ale.(hasn't been here in years) About the only thing I can say about it is...it's 8% abv. Where the hell did the flavour go?
