Please save Georgia Beer Lovers

This is a copy of an email message sent to me from Ted Hull, who runs a website that is central to the effort in updating the arcane Georgia law that limits beers in the state to 6% ABV. A bill recently passed our house, and senate that updates this limit to 14%. It currently only awaits the signature of our Governor (or at least a lack of veto) to go into effect. But sensational stories like this can kill this effort by making the Governor veto this bill. Please help me and my fellow Georgia beer drinkers by contacting these TV reporters, to let them know that the bill is a good and not a bad thing.

Forwarded message follows:

CBS 46 is running a promo for a story that'll air Monday evening on their

11PM news. It's apparently an expose about how beer is about to become 3X as strong in Georgia. It looks like they did little more in background on this than read an ill-informed letter to the editor in the 2/12/04 AJC. Please let Fred Powers ( snipped-for-privacy@wgcltv.com), the reporter, or Katherine Bohlander ( snipped-for-privacy@cbs46.com), the producer, know that you're concerned about the accuracy of their work. You can also call the newsroom at 404-325-4646 and ask to leave voice mail for either.

This is the kind of thing that could sink our efforts, if it gives the governor an excuse to veto.

Thanks for your help.
