Well, sure, that's nice of him but does he deserve "Kudos"? (Where is "Kudos" from, anyway? Isn't that one of those new Eastern European imports?) Weren't we all suspcious of him in the beginning, when he started his comment with, "I don't drink beer but..." THAT didn't set off the alarms? Geez, it's not hard for a non-beer drinker to be reasonable and level headed.

"smothered in embarrassment"...??? Wow, can this guy write! Is that a simile or a metaphor?

Drunken hyperbole. I can recommend various texts if you're interested.

If he was truly British of course his beer would be kept nowhere near a freezer. :-)

(This is a true story so not as funny or clever) I lived in a place that had lots of americans for some reason. (Well, studied for a while, now they tell theres most erasmus -european exchange students in finland, when comparing countries, taking account to population, then, not so common) there was other nationalities too, german women, they are like women here, talk to each other but not to men they don't know, german males are friendly though, australians, both men and women are extremely friedly, canadians - males are friendly, women are a bit like the germans, though they talk to you if you talk to them, germans (and women here) dont.. ..when you have met one, you of course can decide they are all the just like that ;) - well, women here, though, when they see a foreigner, change behavior, lots, italians they fight over (seen that happen), anyone whos not from east, they love without knowing (probably its the hope of getting out of here) Young americans are friendly. Some of the young women bought me beer, asked to go to places, well, there was nothing going on (though, if i did not have a shy character, i definitely would have answered to the niceness with anything that was asked of me (alas, nothing was and i did not understand to offer anything in return - nobody in italy is that stupid, i am sure) and I tried to pay for the beers (coming from finland, it just does not happen that beautiful women buy beer to you, it may happen that they ask you to buy beer to them, but never ever the other way around) - however, the older ones (well, one woman) had something against me.

Was telling me what I do there (was studying, like, if a young woman (in this case, many of them - actually, one even joked she'd marry me so I got to live somewhere warmer, as I would not go out when it really was too cold to go out - that was years ago, if I ever guessed I'd still be single when thirty, I would have begged her marry me) offers me beer and asks me come for a pizza, what should I do ? Find male friends instead ?) and that I should not live with the young women (I moved, no problem for the old woman, who was not even related or anything to the younger ones) I never wondered much about the reason, but maybe that was like protecting the young ones from foreign influence or something ? Or being jealous to the young ones ;) ?

Taking beer is theft, shagging his daughters is only renting services.

Actually, a decent Gigolo is hard to find and one would need to pay quite a lot for one. So renting services - really, thats the other way around.

As for price of beer and the list with several countries' taxes, I wonder if the Canadians too have a huge drug problem ? In Europe, Oslo is probably the most expensive town for beer and they have most deaths due to overdoses in Europe. Maybe Switzerland has expensive beer too but at least they are close to cheaper countries. Also people say that moonshine is legal to make at home there, but dont know about that as I never been there myself, my friend worked there though, had enough pay to buy beer for the high prices but then his employer stopped paying him, claiming he was of wring origin to get pay, he never got his money and made me swear never to go work there.

Found a funny site with quotes after putting that 'riddle wrapped in a mystery' (well, it was obvious but its rather late, yet, someone who lives in the apartment above me, is still up and prefers to keep me awake, too, so started to wonder about the quote) to google,

Maybe others (not me) have seen/heard them already but he also said:

At least one city in Canada does: Vancouver, in its infamous Downtown Eastside area. Most of Vancouver isn't nearly this bad. Beer is somewhat more expensive in Vancouver than in, say, Seattle, and you also get to pay both provincial sales tax and "GST" (Goods and Services Tax) on your beer, adding on another 17%.

On Canada, particularly Vancouver's DES:
