Standard procedure is for the typical newbie read the group for a while to get the gist of what's going on. Also a good idea if the noob has maybe done some actual *reading*, maybe tried some of the local craft beers, that sorta thing. Doesn't hurt to know at least a bit about beer styles.

Where do you stand?

But of course.

Lurk (read without posting) for several weeks. You'll figure it out. It's The USENET Way!

As the saying goes, 'on the internet, no one knows you're a dog.' You're only welcome if you don't become a pain in the ass.

People here would rather you ask sincere (even if naive) questions about beer, than to create threads that proclaim, "I LIKE BEER!"

Yeah, that's nice. Guess what bourbon named Stagg I got a bottle of in the mail yesterday? Not bad, either.
