If you're really paranoid, run a livecd bootable linux system like knoppix (you can assume your hdd is already compromised), use gnupg (secure email) and speakfreely (secure voice). Keep your files encrypted on some public fileserver. Memorize your _long_ keyphrase. Watch for people looking over your shoulder as you type. Disassemble your keyboard and look for added devices. Put piezo transducers on all your windows connected to a white noise generator. (stops laser mics) Wear aluminum foil on your head. (stops tempest thought intercepts...and amuses the sane). Next election, don't vote for Bush. (prevention is worth a pound of cure)
