Rogue Shakespeare Stout is here!

In Casper Wyoming!

Yum! Also some UK stuff: Black Sheep Ale, Riggwelter Yorkshire Ale, Wynchwood's Hobgoblin, Fiddler's Elbow and Scarecrow.

I'll keep you all posted. ;^)

Rogue Shakespeare Stout is one of the best stouts in the world IMO. Their Imperial Stout is as good or better.

What you said. The best thing Rogue does, and definitely agree it's one of the better stouts on the planet.

I concur, however I find that Bear Republic Black stout is a strong contender. More on the dry side than Shakespeare and very delicious. We just started getting Bear Republic stuff and I must say that I am very impressed. Love the hop rod rye!

I love Shakespeare Stout. It's probably my favorite Rogue beer. It was my favorite stout in the 6% ABV range until I discovered Ipswich Oatmeal.

What he said.

I'd also point out that Rogue Shakespeare is one KIND of stout. I happen to prefer a dry stout in the lower alcohol ranges, something I can drink 6 or 7 of with ease. RSS is GOOD, don't get me wrong. But best stout, period? You gotta get out more. There is no such thing.

Yeah, Big Bear stout and Hop Rod Rye are tasty beers. Red Rocket Ale and Racer 5 IPA, also from Bear Republic, are good too.

For yet another IAWTP, the Tribute Brown Ale as excellent as well. Bear Republic is a damn fine brewer.

Mocha Porter is their best.

I'm thinking that the locally available Snake River's Zonker fits that bill.(no pun intended) Can you give me a short list of dry Stouts with lower abv levels that you'd recommend? TIA.

I've missed the son of a gun. It *is* that damn good.

I find that the bottles of Impy I have had hit the spot in an entirely different manner. Both are outstanding, of course.

Best regards, Bill PS: Pardon my snippage.

I'd like to see Bear Republic products find their way to Casper but.... using other resources at my disposal, I've had the Racer 5 and Hop Rod Rye and WoW, just wow.

Best regards, Bill

Rogue's Mocha Porter is okay, but I prefer Mercury Brewing's Ipswich Porter, Sierra Nevada Porter, and Smuttynose Robust Porter.

Y'know, Bill, almost all of them are brewpub beers. Otherwise, you're looking at the Irish imports: Guinness, Murphy's, and Beamish. But I drink local dry stouts almost exclusively these days.

BEAMISH!

So last night a bunch of us were sitting in the local goodbeer bar, and somehow the conversation turned to the three major Irish stouts: Guinness, Murphy's, and.... Darned if any of us, including the Brit-born bar owner, could think of that third one. (Who said alcohol kills brain cells?)

Incidentally, Bell's Double Cream Stout from the cask isn't half bad.

Best stout I've had in years was at the Pinacle Peak Patio in Phoenix, but the "StonE" stout is pretty drinkable as well. I'm going to retry a few of my favorites next month.
