Sam Adams Black Lager

I had to try this one cuz of the good things I've read about it and...I was

*not* disappointed. Very tasty!!! Very malty!! Must be great stuff on tap.

I put it just a notch lower than a fresh Sprecher Black Bavarian.

/me pops the cap on a second bottle...

Me as well.

Hey, look there in my fridge, I've got fresh Sprecher Black Bavarian.

Wait, it's 9:30 in the morning. Never mind.

Me too. I call it a 3/4 Guinness; 3/4 the foam, 3/4 the weight, 3/4 the cost, but maybe 4/5 the taste.

I bought some recently online and they didn't have that "splap you in the face" freshness too them. Still good but not as good as I know it *can* be.

It's a shame you're comparing apples and oranges. If you're looking for the same flavors from a schwarzbier and an Irish dry stout, well, you're not going to enjoy schwarzbier. Hint: all dark beer shouldn't taste the same.

But here's an important comparison you might like: 5/4 the alcohol of Guinness. At least the draft Guinness.

I tried some this weekend after reading these posts. Pretty solid stuff. No Kostritzer, but hey I can't get Kostritzer in Kansas!

I've had the Kostritzer in Casper before so I know where you're coming from. ;^)
