SuperBowl Party Beers

Greetings friends and connoisseurs:

I am hosting my 9th annual SuperBowl Party and this year I would like to present beers from both Carolina and New England. If you were presented with two ice buckets, one for New England and one for Carolina, which beers would you most like to see represented?

As always, I appreciate any suggestions from your tomes of brilliance.

TIA

For New England, I'd like to see Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale.

Best regards, Bill

Flattery...I love it! I assume you're being realistic, so...bottles from Carolina are pretty limited. I'd want some Porter from Palmetto (they make a killer IPA, but it's under contract for someone else, and draft-only) and Weeping Radish Festbier and Black Radish. New England, you've got a lot of choices: most common would be Sammy A or Harpoon IPA, I'd rather go for some Wachusett, the Black Shack Porter or IPA.

Many humble thanks King Bryson. I was hoping you'd chime in...Sincerely, L.

For Carolina I would recommend any of the Highland beers.

I sincerely appreciate all of you all's suggestions. Sometime this week I'm going to trek up the way to Tennessee and see what treasures I can find, as Huntsvegas has a weak selection. Wish me luck fellas! (and ladies, if there are any here besides me ^_^)

Carolina Blonde is a good beer for people who don't like the taste of beer; sure it's not an adjunct-laden beer, but it's along the lines of, say, Stella Artois. There's very little there.

Highland makes a couple of very good beers, as Lew points out. I would chime in that Carolina Brewing Company (Holly Springs) makes a G-FG Pale Ale, and their Nut Brown is also at least G. Cottonwood Brewery's Endo IPA (I think that this is produced by the people who contract-brew Carolina Blonde, alas) is a (when fresh) FG IPA, also.

These are likely not available outside of North Carolina. The Boston area, on the other hand, should be significantly easier to cover, beer-wise.

You've got enough about Carolina to get you going, but since you mention "New England" and not just "Massachusetts," perhaps you can score the likes of Allagash? Probably not, if you're in southeastern beer hell, but it might be possible. Allagash does some nice Belgian- style ales.

Oh, Guess

You all spoil me! ^_^

It's too bad my guests won't appreciate the effort as much as you all...

Mash House IPA (dry-hopped, 60 ibu, 6% abv). Also, responding to Lew's suggestion of Weepish Radish, all their beers are contract brewed at Clipper City in Baltimore-for now. The new Weeping Radish brewery in NC should be on-line soon and producing the real stuff again. I'd go also with the Highland beers, and Cottonwood IPA is good but, but maybe not as assertive as when Don Richardson was brewing there. Yes Cottonwood is brewed at Carolina Beer Co. where Carolina Blonde and the Charleston label beers are brewed. Chuck C.
