Surviving the Hop Shortage

Nice article. Your colleague writes well, but needs to learn how to form contractions, and the difference between the possessive pronoun "your" and the contraction "you are."

I grow my own hops, which I guess are grassy. What I would really like to know is how to measure their alpha acid content, which as I understand changes a bit from year to year. Is there any way to do this, short of sending them to a lab? I only brew 40-80 gallons per year. I'd like to follow this guy's advice and use MY hops for bittering, and then whatever substitution I need for aroma.
