We had a blind tasting of tripel and tripel-style ales...

...at the store where I work. 34 large and small format Belgian and Belgian-style beers. Wonderful stuff. You couldn't go wrong. About 30-40 people showed up through the rain for the tasting. Also had a great cheese and olive platter to go with it.

I don't know about the OP, but I think anything not too sharp goes well with Belgian strong ales. Creamier ones for the "cleaner" beers, stinkier and bleu-type cheeses for the more funky ones. This past weekend I had a British Stilton with some La Rulles triple and it was quite nice.
