BTW - The London Drinker is given away in every London Wetherspoon's.

Is The Tap Room given away in any Essex pubs?

If so, what would be the nearest such pub to London? (Preferably one on or near the Underground.)

Yes. See Page 20 for list.

near the Underground.)

There are 3500+ hard copies given away in (mainly) Essex pubs, however in many pubs the books go out fast. The distribution of books may also take up to two weekends after they have been printed. The on-line edition usually appears early in this period.

The on-line edition is just a conversion of the file that goes to the printers + some extra links.

The pubs on the distribution list are listed in the on-line edition.

The editor can also post you a copies if you send him your name, address and some 1st class stamps (Tap-room will provide the envelopes). See the (unreadable) image on the top page 22 of the on-line edition - rescanned in the link below:

And in this case the on-line edition doesn't include a coin of the realm. The hard copies contain a 1p coin to match the generosity of Chancellor in his budget.

The hard copies have irregular free gifts

One edition had a free Millennium Bug contained in a small plastic bag. It was stapled to one of the pages with the holes providing enough air to keep the bug alive. A few readers wrote to the editor complaining that their bug had escaped - they were sent replacement bags.

Another edition had a plastic bag containing a hop so that the readers could experiment with attempting to improve the bland offerings from some of the big brewers.

Yet another edition had a souvenir of British brewing heritage - a small packet of brick dust which was collected from the Romford Brewery site as it was being demolished.
