Actually we are in the GBG, and have won Pub of the Month too. It's not really the local CAMRA (though some of them are strange), its the national CAMRA attitude that stinks. CAMRA just isn't interested in pubs / bars that do what it says on the side of the CAMRA tin... i.e., serve good beer in great condition from micro's and nationals, whilst attracting young and old people of both sexes and all classes. Anyway, I'm not really talking about our place specifically, just using it as a working example of how CAMRA fails nationally.

So lets get this clear: somehow your local branch has managed to fly in the face of national policies (the imaginary ones I've never heard of) to support you and you're still complaining? And complaining that CAMRA might be trying to move in a direction closer to *your* apparent marketing plan? What have you been smoking?
You took care to omit pertinent details knowing many would assume you're the innocent victim of CAMRA unfairness, a scam tried many times here. I wonder hat else you've forgotten to mention?
This conversation is now becoming rather surreal! From where do you draw your assumptions? Has CAMRA ever *said* it If so, source, please?
From your dh1Ya.54472$ snipped-for-privacy@stones.force.net post:-
Problem? Source, please?
Your posts are long on assumptions and short on facts. I no longer consider them worth replying to.

What have the Romans ever done for us eh?
Um, wine and fresh water? No beer...

To use the world's greatest soap opera line - you just don't get it do you!
Permit me the use of another example.
On Saturday Mr. P Shirley posted this:
"You need to be aware that the Pickthalls run a bar specialising in micro brewery products but choose not to stock draught RA...
...consequently CAMRA won't give them the wholehearted support they believe they deserve...
...consequently they spend a great deal of time shouting abuse about CAMRA and anyone that agrees with CAMRA."
It is the assumption that we constantly disagree with CAMRA for personal reasons, because we have an axe to grind. NO, WE JUST DON"T AGREE WITH MANY OF THE ORGANISATIONS POLICIES. CAMRA is not infallible it can be challenged.
Mr/Ms. To is not having a go because certain CAMRA members may or may not have a 'downer' on his establishment. He's having a go because he disagrees with the organisation's policies.
Some seem to either have an unquestioning religious devotion to CAMRA or are just deeply arrogant about it. It isn't right just because it says so in the Bible/CAMRA!

What?
No I didn't accuse DH of saying something he didn't say. I said his reply was arrogant.
No it was a reply which highlighted CAMRA's institutional arrogance, which was why I showed you another example and it is deep arrogance that you can't see it.
Are you saying that what is written can only ever be taken literally, on face value? Can people's written opinions not highlight unwritten points?
Just because you or DH weren't aware or didn't intend there to be a subtext doesn't mean there isn't one.
You should go out more, things are changing, the crowd at GBBF this year was noticeably more "coloured", with more asians and africans I've ever seen there... and indeed plenty of young women.
Yeah, an organisation which would campaign for the Czech state to keep ownership of Budvar Brewery, a breweryw hich - shock horror - only ever produced lager. Wake up ! it IS the same organisation !! Just that your preconceptions have failed to follow the mental evolution within the Campaign...

Halfway up the country by any chance? I can think of one where the owner seems to go out of his way to insult and upset the branch (many miles from me, and other branches between here and there)
Name names! By the way, while I see that 'to' reckons his local CAMRA Branch don't support the pub no-one has yet asked him/her/it whether or not said pub is in the GBG. If it's as good as he makes out and isn't in the GBG he might have a sort-of justifiable cause for complaint. If it is in the GBG, though, well what's his/her/its beef?

Keith,
As you have just learned - you can never reason with a Pickthall. Arguing with then is like wrestling with jelly - they can never be pinned down.

Merely an (accurate) observation rather than a snide comment, I think.

I have long since given up trying to have any form of discussion with you...indeed, I think this would appear on anyone's top 10 pointless exercises.

And I'd be interested to know where they got the real Stella and Carlsberg from, if they don't sell any keg beers!
