Former Beerhouse, Manchester

Did anyone else notice this?

I know Rob little bit and he is a top chef - but not much of a real ale buff, sad to say :-(

What a shame. The Beerhouse was always on our Northern Quarter tour of Manchester. As was the Pot Of Beer. As was the Queen's Arms in Cheetham (still there, but not worth the walk out)

Thank goodness for the Bar Fringe and the Marble Arch.

He didn't exactly set the cask scene alight at the Bridge, and his revamp of Flixton's Greyhound (as the Village Inn) lasted all of five minutes (it's still closed).

Still, nothing else was going to happen at the Beerhouse, so this is better than it getting torched like so many other disused boozers.

On the positive side: Stretford has cask ale again, and I don't mean the Old Cock, which re-opened briefly before putting the shutters back up again. The new outlet is the Green Windmill, which some years back used to be the Moulin Rouge (geddit?). Changing cask ales have included Black Sheep and Taylor's Landlord. Live bands at weekends are its main selling point, so this one may stay the course. More at .
