Friendly Sheffield Pub

Has anyone else noticed how different the atmosphere is between the Fat Cat and the Kelham Island Tavern in Sheffield? The Kelham is a warm, welcoming place with cheery staff who seem pleased to see everyone who walks in the door. By extreme contrast the Cat seem to look down their nose at their customers, and the staff can hardly be bothered to pull a pint. The beer might be good in the Cat but the atmosphere is definitely off-putting! I'd opt for the Kelham every time.

The only thing these two pubs have in common is forcing their customers to evade the tarts who inhabit the street between the pubs and the tram stop!

The tarts must have some customers!! Agree with your comments re the Kelham Island. Never had a problem at the Fat Cat, though. JL

I found the Kelham Island Tavern quite nice too. I always find that the Devonshire Cat in the town centre is a much nicer pub though. It's beer choice and quality is great and it isn't quite so up itself like a lot of real ale pubs, and their patrons!
