"Unfortunately we've had to temporarily close the brewery. All brewery tours are suspended, and the on-site shop is closed. We'll post an update here when we're up and running again."

Which doesn't actually say whether they have any damage. Are they closed because they have water in the works or because the workers can't get in?

Water in the works. :-(

Mess to clear up and no electricity.

Very positive though. Recalling beer stored elsewhere to serve the locals, expect to get back to it as soon as poss.

Great Gable has trouble too. They were moving into new premises at Egremont - but that has been flooded.

The Bitter End moved into new premises in Cockermouth, in an industrial estate next to the Derwent, a few weeks ago, and have been flooded but the brewer says it isn't too much - not very high. Just can't get in because of power to electric doors.

Keswick brewery had a lucky escape - had to evacuate before getting trapped - put all they could as high as they could, and left. Went back to find it had reached the door but not gone in.

I was talking to a Marston's landlord today (Marston's of course are the owners of Jennings these days). He, and no doubt many other landlords, has had an e-mail from HQ asking them not to order any Jennings' beer until further notice. The brewery is expected to be out of action for about four months. Some of the beer that is in stock now is going to be bottled.

Jennings' website now has pictures of the flooding: .

I was told by a Marston's director that they expect to be up and running in eight weeks!
