Leeds Beer Festival

I note that Leeds Beer Festival is coming up at Pudsey Civic Centre again soon.

An interesting development is that there will be NO pint or half pint glasses - you will have a choice of 1/3 or 2/3 of a pint.

Sounds a bit of the start of a slippery slope to me, how long before pubs start doing that and charging the same price as they did before for a pint (we've had to buy all these new glasses you know!)

Already planning a trip to Whitehaven where I think a pint will still be available.

They have had half pint glasses for many years (usually provided as bribery... I mean a donation .... by Marstons) ... but I don't know what they have got this year!

well most beer festivals do, but Ive not encountered one that just did sizes in 3rds yet, I mean why not go for the full set have a 3/3rds measure, call it a pint..or something.

I get that most people (well ok scoopers) dont go for pints that much, actually thats not always the case on Fri/Sat nights, but sure its not the most popular size, but 3rds ??

IME 1/3rds are too small and 2/3rds are curiously too big, as in they look like halves but arent pints so the tendency is to treat them like halves, which means you drink more :) and you just drink both sizes too quickly, which youd have thought at a beer festival isnt a great idea.

so its great it makes their service side life easier with people just asking for small or large, though crazily the idea of them using tokens, and handing out change when the numbers dont quite add up aaaaghh just charge the same amount!!!

but yeah is it to charge more for less,
