Lemme Try This Again ???

Gonna be in Haworth (2 days), Hawes (2 weeks), and Holmfirth (2 days) starting in early April.

We will definitely do a Sunday lunch in Masham as it's about the only place we can find Riggwelter in recent years, and we'll do another Sunday at the Fleece up in Holme.

We are very partial to dark, heavy brews like Peculiar and Ram Tam.

Looking for interesting Pubs and Ales in North Yorks, Lake District, and rural West Yorks.

All further suggestions welcome!

PLEASE.....

tnx

I think someone more in that area has mentioned Brambles in Holmfirth as having eight real ales on although it's not a part of the world I get over to often.

In the Lake District, there are too many to mention, but given your tastes, could I also suggest you might squeeze in a trip to Kirkby Lonsdale? It's a food and drink paradise (well, by Lancaster standards anyway - I've never been to the Fat Duck and El Bulli is a phrase which only reminds me of the very unpleasant Steven Keating in the fifth form).

It's a beautiful Georgian town half way between Skipton and Kendal. It now has its own eponymous brewery, with its tap, the Orange Tree (with its welcoming and completely hassle-free, but faintly manly rugger buggerish atmosphere) close by the grounds of a quintessentially lovely English church. KL brewery's Dark Arts was voted champion ale in our branch's Winter Ales Competition in January.

There's also the Sun Inn a few yards away. It's a Thwaites house but please don't stop reading here - Thwaites understand that they can't get away with their usual life-sapping range of uninteresting brown ales there, so there are always some guests (albeit from a predictable list). But the atmosphere is lovely and I find it difficult to leave.

Next door is an excellent cheese shop in which they sometimes have a pianist going at an old upright (I mean a piano) on certain afternoons.

Brambles in Holmfirth?? Where's that?? We been going to Holmfirth for years and do not remember a Brambles.

Will get into Kirkby Lonsdale on one of our Lake Country trips.

It would be worthwhile to download the local CAMRA branch magazine to find out about Brambles and other places around Holmfirth and Huddersfield, with previous issues also available :-
