Lowestoft/Hopton

I am going for a short break to Hopton on sea near Great Yarmouth. Which are the best beers in the area?

Green Jack (e.g. from their Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft) I'd say, but I've not lived in E Anglia for q a while.

They bought the sizeable brewplant from Oakham's brewpub (P'boro) & have always made some damn fine beer.

Save room for a nightcap of Ripper - very stylish strong 'un (former Champ Winter Beer of Britain).

According to their website they've got a beer fest coming up - "Next Real Ale Beer Festival is at the Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft, Starting Thursday 20th AUGUST til stocks last!!"

Agree with the Triangle Tavern recommendation. Also a bit further away in Bungay, the Green Dragon is worth a visit (they brew their own beers). Not too far from Bungay is St Peter's hall, home of St Peter's brewery. There's a bar in the hall itself and a shop adjacent which sells their bottled beers.

Finally, much further away but a must visit if you get the chance is the Low House (King's Head) at Laxfield. Not particularly for the beers (standard Adnams range plus a guest) but for the pub itself which is a classic. If you go there, the Low House is off the High Street behind the churchyard.
