Pub Recommendations - Birmingham NEC?

Hi all,

I just wondered if anyone can recommend any pubs within walking distance of the NEC in Birmingham? Would I be better off catching a train into the city?

Thanks.

Martin.

Yes.

The NEC is miles from anywhere, as you'll find out when you park there. Not disabled friendly either :(((

The NEC is a Real Ale Desert. It depends on how dedicated a walker you are: The Griffin in Shustoke is only 10km away!

The Bulls Head, Meriden is 6km away

There appear to be handpumps in the

Hook Norton Old Hooky, Black Sheep Bitter and Brew XI it looks like to my tired eyes. Only 2km or 1 railway stop.

But basically yes. Much better selection in Digbeth (get off at Moor St)

- the Anchor is here

There's a Wetherspoons now in the NEC - predictable beers and ambience but very welcome.

Trains from the NEC (Birmingham International) don't serve Moor St. Get off at New Street Moor St (and the Anchor) aren't far away.

It's opening hours aren't quite what one might expect though.

Sorry about the bad train info, I was just going by the map. Still can't commend the Anchor highly enough.

I think the beer at the Lamp, Highgate just 10 minutes walk from the Anchor takes a lot of beating.
