Rat and Ratchet Beer Festival, Huddersfield

Yet another reason to visit Huddersfield.

The Rat and Ratchet brewpub is holding a mini beer festival, showcasing all of its beers (15 altogether, although 10 on at any given time) plus guests (including beers from their owning brewery, Ossett)

It's on 10th - 12th Feb. There's an opportunity to tour the brewery and meet the brewers on Sat 11th Feb between 2pm and 5 pm.

And if you need more tempting, there's 50p a pint off for card carrying CAMRA members.

And it's not far ( 5 minutes walk) from the legendary Grove where you can ....well, just look at the list !!! -

So how long has the Rat and Ratchet been a brewpub?? I swear that a couple years ago, at their Mild Festival, there was no mention of Ossett. Only Ossett I remember was over in Marsden.

BTW - really loved the R&R Mild Festival, and we also stopped at the Grove, which was also great (but not very busy).

Does The Nook do a festival as yet???

The Rat used to brew many years ago, then stopped, and only started again last year.

Ossett have owned the Rat and Ratchet, the Riverhead in Marsden, and Fernandes in Wakefield for some years now. We suspected that they might close all three breweries and consolidate brewing at Ossett, but thankfully each brewery still had its own brewer and recipes.

I believe they do. And incidentally there's a new beer outlet in Holmfirth called Brambles which is worth popping into.

We will be in Holmfirth later this year. Can you tell me where to find Brambles???

btw - we used to (years ago) like The Sycamore pub, just over toward Wooldale. Had wonderful food, and the landlord played some good music as well. Last time thru, looked kinda closed. Got any recent news???

Right in the town centre opposite the bus station. Up to 8 real ales. More of a cafe bar than a pub really but the beer is in good condition.

Looking at the photo I used to know it as the White Hart when I worked in Holmfirth, just don't Google to get there, it sends you to Upperthong the next village.
