Yep, they will be serving bottled Bud, Fosters etc.

Can you see any restaurant stocking, say, six casks of real ale to offer the discerning dinner a choice to match what they are eating? People don't normally go to restaurants to drink beer and if the turn-over of cask ale is insufficient it will only be fit for pouring over the fish and chips after a few days.

One reason I avoid poncy restaurants and go to a good pub for grub.

No, but I can see them offering good bottle-conditioned beers.

Sort of related - we went to the Manoir Quat Saison recently - and they strongly recommended a fruit beer to accompany the dessert course, rather than a dessert wine - I was pleasantly surprised.

Introduce someone to a quality bottled real ale in an up-market restaurant and the next time they are in a Greene King tied house they are sure to get the same thing when they ask for it.

Like you can get your favourite wine in every restaurant, you mean?

You can eat well and drink quality bottled beer..providing you go Belgian.

There are of course many excellent bottled English/Scottish beers for those who find Belgian beers too strong and sweet for their taste...
