Trans-Pennine Rail Ale Trail - New Venue

For those of you who are familiar with the Stalybridge - Huddersfield

- Dewsbury - Leeds rail crawl, here's a new additon:

the Cellar Bar, directly opposite Batley railway station (through the car park, across the road and down the steps), has been taken over by the management of the West Riding Licensed Refreshment Rooms on Dewsbury station.

Initially, there are 3 real ales on the bar, two of which will change on a regular basis, and it's the second regular outlet for Anglo-Dutch Brewery's Yorkshire Wit wheat beer (live keg).

The first of three official opening evenings is tonight [1]. There will also be a first ever Halloween Beer Festival at the bar at the end of the month ( a small one with 10 beers).

for further info.

Batley station is served by Northern Rail. The journey time between the West Riding and the Cellar Bar is under 5 minutes.

[1] The second evening, tomorrow, is particularly for CAMRA members, Brewery staff and the press.

Enjoy!

Sounds worth a try,. Often gone through Batley at speed on TPE thinking it might be worth getting off there for one,

And a throigh service for us from Hebden Bridge from December I think. I'll add it to my crawl list.

It was pretty full last night. 4 beers on, not 3, and it's effectively an extension of the West Riding Bar, so no duplication, except for the Black Sheep Bitter.

Tomorrow (Saturday) night is a private party - invitation only, apparently.

The new service to Hebden will be useful, but it won't run weekday evenings or Sundays, AFAIUI :-(
