Young's Special

I am currently in the Wibbas Down Inn in upmarket Wimbledon. I'm drinking Y oung's Special. Guess how much? One pound ninety nine pee! That's right. £1.99. When did you last pay that for that?

A keen price nonetheless. Round here, Joe Holt's have put their prices up b y 9p a pint, so bitter is now GBP2.54 or more. Even Sam Smith's is two quid a pint now. The cheapest pint I've had this year was a very pleasant Rudga te Jerusalem at 1.89, but that was in a Spoon's in Middlesbrough. (And I ac tually paid just 1.39, thanks to my CAMRA vouchers.)

In fact it WAS on special offer. The manager said that they are thinking of having it as a regular drink (to replace Doom Bar?) and that it will in fu ture be £2.79. Even that is pretty good.
