Stoney's

I tried this beer in a can a bunch of years ago, and thought it was terrible, bitter. I just found out Iron City Brewing is now making it. I might give it a try in the bottle. I am a fan of Iron City draft. Anyone tried Stoney's lately. Stoney's used to be made halfway between Rolling Rock Latrobe and Iron City Pittsburgh. Lay Trobe as they say around here.

I should also mention some other towns around these parts, Redstone, Grindstone, Slippery Rock, Shamrock....

Beer is supposed to taste bitter. That's why they put hops in it.

I grew up ten miles from the Jones (Stoney) brewery in Smithton; I always like it.

Yeah, those doppelbocks and dubbels are insanely bitter.

Not all beer is supposed to taste bitter. Your posting history indicates you know that. Be careful of the overly broad pronouncement.

I was responding to a posting about Stoney's, not a doppelbock or dubbel.

Again, be careful of the overly broad pronouncement. Not all beer is supposed to be bitter.

I guess I really meant more bitter. Bitter without taste? Bitter to make you do a funny face. Bitter to make you not taste another sip.
