Aeration? (SP?)

I use a 6gal primary and a 5gal secondary, I had been shaking my primary after cooling and siphoning. I went to the store and bought an aquarium pump and one of those blue bubble rocks and used it (after sanitizing it and the hose) while I am siphoning into my primary and let it run for about 15-20 min before I add my yeast. I have used it on 5 or 6 batches and havn't had a problem, and my beer seems to be alot clearer and less sweet than it was (which I think is great). anybody else ever use one of those rocks, had any problems with them?

You hit the nail on the head,, it really does seem to make a difference in the finished beer. I have tried the porous aquarium stone as well, but always worried about contamination between brews, since the stone crumbles with age and leaves particles on the bottome of the primary,, and it is difficult to ensure sanitizer gets deep into the stone, and ensure it is really rinsed before you immerse in the wort.

Thanks, that looks really good, I'm going to order one payday, the blue one did make me nervous about cleaning it (getting all of the bleach out before I put it in), that stainless one will be great, I can just boil it. And about the tiny bubbles, I went to the website and looked at it, it looks like it has really tiny holes, and they even warn you about how much foam it will produce. (and just one stupid question, why does aeration make so much difference in the beer taste?, it really does, I just can't figure out why)

Thanks, again I really appreciate it
