Hi Group, Is there a way to tell what my alpha acid is from my home grown
hops?

Nope, not without a very expensive analysis.  For that reason, I
generally just use homegrown hops for aroma where the AA doesn't
matter.  Or you can just make an AA assumption based on the variety's
usual AA, brew a batch, and see how close you guessed.

I have been thinking of growing hops on the trellis over my deck. Does
anyone know how to get this started? I live in zone 4 (Milwaukee, WI).

Thanks!

Check out www.freshops.com.  They have rhizomes and growing info.
