Anyone ever use Perle hops for bittering in an Ale?

I have toyed with the idea, thought I'd see if anyone had any experience doing so.

You might check with the Sierra Nevada folks. They've been doing it for years with their Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

However, this website must have just changed. Just a couple weeks ago, the bittering hop was listed as solely Perle. Maybe they're going with the economical benefits of the Magnum now to lower the hops costs.

Perle is my default bittering hop, I just love it in both lagers and ales.

Cheers.

I've used Pearle in a few beers, including a very nice Sierra style ale I made recently. The Sierra ale came out very nice but you need to be a bit careful with Pearle as it can be quite bitter and takes a bit of time to fully mellow out in the beer. It is primarily a bittering hops.

BTW - The Sierra is listed on my web site - Recipe Exchange section under the recipes for September.

Cheers! Brad
