Barley Wine Light

Has anyone ever attempted to make a barley wine from just light malt
extract?
Think it would be worth the time and expense.
I was considering just using about 16lbs of light DME maybe some honey and
champagne yeast.
Thoughts?

You're gonna have an awfully thin BW.  I'd recommend using some 60L
crystal, too, and definitely skip the champagne yeast.  It isn't
necessary and won't give your BW the right flavor.  Skip the honey,
too.  It's 100% fermnentable and will just thin the beer.  Use 2-3
packets of a good dry ale yeast, or a huge amount of liquid yeast.
