Brewers Log - What do you like to track?

Hello,

I've been lurking this forum for quite a while now, and am half-way through reading Papzian's Complete Joy of Homebrewing. I'm getting pretty excited to try my first batch, but I'm also enjoying the research and preparation.

I wanted to post this question to the group on what you guys like to track and log for your beer making batches. I've found one example online of a Brewer's Log, but got the impression that there's alot of information I could include on something like this and wanted to see what everyone else deemed important to track.

I'm also planning on creating some sort of web-based log system to track what I do.

Regards, Warren

For me, I keep it simple:

Into Primary: Recipe, Date, OG

Into Secondary: Date, Gravity

Into bottle: Date, FG

The recipe has the yeast type. Some people keep temperatures, but I have a cold room(a room isolated from my basement via a door), and it maintains a constant temp.

One word Warren....Promash. Get thee a copy and you can keep records to your hearts content. I've got detailed info on every beer I've made and I wouldn't want to be without it. No affiliation, yada yada, just a very happy user.

You are on the right wavelength. Keep good records. Nothing more frustrating than brewing a good batch (or a less-than-good one), and not being able to tie it to a recipe. Color coding bottle caps (or something like that) is good to remember also.
